It connects the southwest part of the country with the capital and eastern part. The Bridge was inaugurated on 25 June 2022 by honorable PM Sheikh Hasina. The two Level steel truss bridge is 6.15 KM long and 18.10 M wide.
It has a four-lane highway on the upper level and a single-track railway on the lower level. The whole project cost is estimated to be 3.868 Billion USD.
When the world Bank canceled its credit agreement, the country had come up with its own funding. The Bridge with 150.12 M long 41 spans is the largest bridge in Bangladesh and the 6th largest bridge in the world. The bridge will connect Dhaka to Kolkata in a faster way. At least 2 hours of journey time will be saved. The bridge is a symbol of our pride, our Honour, and our ability.
